About Adolf Schlatter. Adolf Schlatter (–) was a conservative Lutheran theologian, a lecturer at Berne, and professor of New Testament and systematic theology at Greifswald University and Tübingen. One of the most prolific New Testament scholars of the twentieth century, Schlatter produced more than separate scholarly articles on the New Testament. Adolf Schlatter was born in St. Gallen, Switzerland in As a boy he studied the usual subjects as well as philosophy, Greek and Latin (more usual in former times). He was also a nature lover who studied the plants and animals of his beloved country.
